How to Avoid Brain Rot by Staying Focused
Brain rot doesn’t mean your brain literally rots, it simply refers to the negative effect external stimuli can have on the brain, resulting in long term issues. These can be behavioral or simply intellectual. Luckily, it can be avoided.
Like the body, the brain will deteriorate if we do not continually challenge it through learning new things. Achieved with reading, art or work, constantly pulling in new information and then assimilating it helps prevent you from falling into detrimental negative patterns. This is especially more noticeable the older you get.
Meditation is the simple act of learning how to better control your thoughts. Sitting in a quiet room, you force your mind to stay focused on one thing for a certain period of time. If other thoughts enter the mind, they are noted and then dismissed. While seen as mystical, it’s actually a very beneficial practice for those that want healthier minds. By knowing how to control where your thoughts go, you can keep them from becoming negative.
The more one learns, the more one realizes they have yet to learn. Never get to a stage where you feel you have nothing more to learn. This causes mental stagnation, trapping you in a particular way of thinking that will be outdated in a few years. Instead, keep questioning everything and never accept a “fact” at face value.
