Are We Living Too Fast?
Life is fast in the modern age.
Let’s face it, anything we want, be it information, entertainment or many other services can be had as fast as we desire. We are becoming used to instant decisions because we can get these things so quickly.
Whether we are searching for information for a school project or information on a new product we want to try, it is all at our finger tips. Even more available is entertainment. Video’s of books, music, movies, and television are all at the ready, we just have to reach out for them. The amazing thing is we are only going to keep going faster as the demand for instant results is also skyrocketing. This is especially true of the picture and video production.
Picture And Video Demand
Let’s take a look at some of the stats showing this increased demand. Google Data collects many different forms of data but in this instance we will be looking at a study of the camera and photo equipment searches category. They compared November 2013 to November 2014 and the leap in some of the numbers is surprising.
• HD searches grew by 25%. That is not too surprising since HD quality has become an obsession with many consumers and video production.
• Compact searches grew by 42%. That is a big number for a one year spread, but again not to surprising since we want everything more portable and easier to carry with us.
• 4K searches grew by a whopping 142%. That is definitely surprising when you consider how fast things are now anyway, and yet people still want the fastest possible devices.
• Drones searches grew and astounding 270% in the one year spread given by Google Data! 270% is and almost unbelievable amount of growth, yet that is the recorded search numbers. Video production is becoming bigger and bigger in all aspects of life and drones are surging to the forefront of that trend.
Drones are essentially remote control planes, small ones that are often set up with cameras. According to YouTube Data, 800K hours of videos watched on YouTube were taken by drones. This is truly astounding that drones have become such a hugely marketable thing in the few years they have been available outside the military. Pictures and video can be taken anytime and pretty close to anywhere. The ability to do this is becoming more and more a demand from consumers and businesses.
This is not just for television anymore. We want everything when we want it. Google Data did another study of numbers that shows that searches for “same day delivery” doubled between February 2010 and February 2014. Technology is now able to assist us in almost every aspect of our lives and we all want to take advantage of that. This is a huge thing for businesses who take advantage of it. Think about new keyword strategies, quicker order turnaround. All transactions are simpler, easier and faster if you want them to and any competitive business wants just that.
